Amazon S3 Cross-Region Replication
Amazon S3 Cross-Region Replication asynchronously copies eligible objects to a bucket in another AWS Region. It supports regional resilience or controlled data distribution for GenAI artifacts when policy permits replication.

- Versioning is required on source and destination buckets
- Existing objects need separate replication or batch operations unless covered by configured options
- Replication Time Control supplies an SLA for most new objects when enabled
When to use it
- Replicate approved model artifacts to a disaster-recovery Region
- Maintain a regional copy of a governed knowledge corpus
Exam tips
- Choose CRR for object replication, not active database consistency or automatic application failover
